@3DOCTORIN` THE TARDIS
====================
@1
Referencing my "The History Of The Jams,
aka The Timelords" CD cover, I find they started in 1987 as "The Jams".
After a couple 12" single-sided discs, they release an LP entitled "1987".
Much as they did on "Doctorin' The Tardis", the group appears to steal parts
of other songs and splice them together. In fact, that is all they seem to
do.
In late 1987 ABBA sued "The Jams" for sampling too much of one of their songs
on the "1987" and all unsold copies were ordered destroyed. For the next year
or so they did a bunch of similar sampled releases--including a second LP--and
then in mid-1988, apparently facing a slump in sales, they go for the Doctor
Who bit and release "Doctorin' The Tardis".
"Doctorin' The Tardis" is an actual hit on both sides of the pond. Finally,
they release "The History of the Jams" CD. This disc has two Doctor Who
songs, and is TVT 4040CD. Released on the TVT label, and copyright KLF 1988.
I bought it for my Who collection; but frankly most of it is awful.
